Russia's military is still struggling with a number of problems on the frontlines in Ukraine. As a result, some Russian cities have canceled or scaled down their New Year's celebrations. Moscow is still holding a New Year celebration — but it will not include fireworks, its mayor said. Some Russian activists last week accused him of spending billions on Russia's military while many of them freeze back home, The Daily Beast reported.
